SAMURAI GAME
Graphics - sunteam_paul and sunteam_ian
This unnamed samurai based game went through so many different concepts that it ended up imploding. It was going to be a scrolling beat 'em up set in feudal Japan, then in a post apocalyptic world, then in a kind of sci-fi setting...it never really settled and the graphics were just experiments with what we were inspired by at the time.

Initial sprites, with ninjas that bear a striking resemblance to those in Shadow Dancer. The initial samurai sprite looked good, but there was a struggle to draw other frames of animation with the same success. |

OK, now things start to go crazy. In a kind of backwards step, we experimented with a cuter style that failed to work. At the time, we had RGB converted PC Engines that had very strong (and incorrect) contrast output. We thought these bright reds and shiny graphics looked cool so tried and failed to copy the look. |

At this point, he turned into a 'Street Samurai'. Basing the sprite on our Alien Storm work, it became a bit easier to animate. |
